The Four Ashramas and the Five Kramas - The Four Stages of Life and the Five Classical Applications of Yoga
The model of the four Ashramas originates from Sanatan culture which has its roots in vedanta. This was a wise culture based in the Indus valley 6000-1900BC that had within its organisation intrinsic aims, principles and stages of life. The model of the four ashramas covers all stages of life and gives a spiritual and practical guide for living.
Each stage of life also had a classical aim. These four aims, which are said to be universal to all people, are needs that are required to be fulfilled in every life. They were fundamental to ancient Vedic culture and still have relevance today.
In turn, the five Kramas or steps on the yogic path ideally related to our stage of life and our aims in life at each stage.
Over this weekend, learn about the stages of life, the aims at each life stage, and the classical steps on the path of yoga. Find out whether your life’s aims and the application of yoga you are following fits with your stage of life, and if not, how to fine tune!
This workshop is important for both teachers and practitioners in order to create a beneficial yoga practice for themselves or their students.
